Beware of your dreams, since they may become true, the old saying goes. And so it was that my first destination wedding happened at Tulum (Mexico) with all the flavors, smells and emotions that I have dreamed that someday may become true. Tulum isn’t a particularly magical place, but it is an especially beautiful one. And it has all the ingredients you would expect: fire (sun), water (beach), earth (sand) and wind, tons of wind amidst a not very wide tongue of land where the locals have managed to recreate all the sensations you may think of when you think of the Caribbean. Lon and Tim gave me the immense honor of photographing their small, family-like engagement. A nearly eight-day trip with enough time to work, breathe, feel, shoot, miss my girl and enjoy a great little family bunch of around 40 guests. We did pre-wed, wedding and post-wedding shooting (the so-called Trash The Dress), an all-in-one glory story.

Supposedly, Lon is (as she called herself) a fucking photo-bitch, meaning someone who loves pictures sooo much! Actually, she was not. She is a truly jolly, cheerful, outgoing, beautiful, very social and loving woman. Her eyes kick ass. She loves her friends. But funny enough, in front of my camera she became timid, almost a child, and somewhat helpless in a (photographic) situation she did not quite control. Tim, by contrast, is an introspective artist. He lets his emotions flow through his graffitis, which are highly and publicly recognized within the U.S. An almost timid, cool dude. However, it was him who found himself more comfortable in front of my camera… What a life!

Everything was different at Tulum: the pre-wed mixed with the wedding rehearsal, so we barely had time to stretch the shooting, as we were surrounded by friends, cervezas and tacos. And lots of things to do. It mattered little, because over here the shooting experience was not the story, but the journey itself was. In fact, the evening ended on a fantastic beach bar, surrounded by our little big family.

THANKS LON! THANKS TIM! I will never forget this wonderful present you have granted me with!!

I love you.

¡GRACIAS LON! ¡GRACIAS TIM! Jamás olvidaré esta maravillosa aventura.

Os quiero.

Luis, las fotos emanan buen rollo, felicidad, easy going… Me encantan !!!

ABRAZOS!!
